Alcatraz

I've been wanting to visit Alcatraz for quite some time now, but it is so hard to get tickets! This time I finally booked in advance and was lucky enough to get tickets for the weekend I was in NorCal. Contrary to popular belief, it is not just a tour of a prison. The island itself has so much history and life to it. There are stories of the families who use to live there and so much history behind this piece of land. The audio tour inside the actual prison facility was extremely interactive and interesting. Tales of the few prison escapes and the daily lives of the inmates were fascinating. The most unexpected surprise of the island is the breathtaking view it has of San Francisco. It must have been bittersweet for the inmates to look outside their small windows at the beautiful and lively city so close by.

I thought it was extremely fitting to wear my new Michael Kors leather jacket on this trip. I thought it would be pretty cold on the island but the weather was just perfect. I've been waiting for just the right day to wear this jacket. It rarely gets that cold in SoCal, so I haven't had a chance to wear it. I instantly fell in love with this jacket when I first touched it. The leather is soo soft! The one issue is that cleaning the leather is a pain.
