Sailboat Place Cards

I made these place cards for our nautical themed BBQ this weekend. They were pretty simple to make. I went to AAA to get maps and cut them out in 8 x 11. I folded the boats and then cut out triangle shaped pieces from scrapbook paper. I used tacky glue to attach the toothpick to the triangles and then wrote everyone's name on each one. Then I used another toothpick to poke a hole through the bottom of the middle tip of the boat to stick in the flags. Lastly, to attach the lifesavers I poked a hole through the side of the boat and insert the string with the lifesaver and tied a knot. Voila!

Soarin'

My boyfriend has always wanted to fly so for his birthday I bought him a voucher to fly over Long Beach at the California Flight Center. They actually let you take over the controls, which is pretty crazy considering you need to have 80 hours of lessons before you can actually fly yourself. I was pretty nervous and scared at first when we were taking off. I've never been in such a small plane before and have heard of many accidents. However, our pilot was very experienced and that allowed me to calm down and enjoy the scenery. Overall, it was a pretty awesome experience!

Polka Dots

I've been searching for this Tiffany Blue color everywhere! I finally found it at Target for $7. Its called Barely Blue Bell. I'm planning on wearing a polka dot dress tomorrow so thought that I'd make use of my dotting tool and add some white dots. I think it looks pretty cute and is easy to do.

I made this card for my unsuspecting boyfriend. He LOVES his name, especially his last name, so I thought I'd incorporate that into the card. I was debating if I should make a knot between the letters, but they actually stay in place pretty well without it. I love using the thick foam tape to make things pop, creating a 3D effect.

Amanda's Birthday Card

This is the first card that I made for a very special lady =)

Uncle Johnny

When most people look at a card, they often do not realize how much time and effort was involved in the creation of that card. Every little detail often involves a lot of creativity and decisions. After making each card, I am always mentally exhausted! It usually takes at LEAST an hour to make a card, but it is definitely worth it when you see the smile on the receiver's face. This card is for my most favorite uncle, who means the world to me. This past year, he's been in and out of the hospital and has become extremely weak and ill. I have been visiting him often and hope that he will be strong and recover soon.
